Patrick Kuma continues his tireless work in the Congo
Before the container being filled, Patrick Kuma with Celine Levis society SRD. :
It all began Oct. 31, 2001, the date of the founding of the welfare association nonprofit Papa Tohanga Ohidi Sylvain and son "whose avowed purpose was to create a sewing and selling clothes to Kinshasa, capital of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Through this association whose aim is obvious humanitarian, Patrick Kuma, crewmember to Eurotunnel, residing in Leulinghen-Bernes, has worked to provide its full support to his countrymen by many actions. Thus, for several years, and tirelessly, Patrick Kuma uses the goodwill to bring all sorts of supplies, materials that have enabled so far, to create two sewing factories in the country of origin and support with 37 jobs, multiplier effect, to live several hundred people. To this, Patrick multiplies collections. There may be specific equipment such as old sewing machines, fabric, yarn or vehicles to retype who find there a useful purpose or objects, utensils may be resold to individuals, TV to the computer through books, toys, household appliances, the benefit received to obtain the necessary funds to other actions, such as, oh so important, for to transport a container to the Republic of Congo, an operation that follows from one end to be on site to ensure it runs smoothly.
A chain of solidarity The container in question, 60 m3, was generously provided by Eurotunnel. Currently CEO of Europort, a subsidiary of the Tunnel sous la Manche, Pascal Sainson, had been the source of material support already given to Patrick Kuma. It is now relayed by Stephen Patrick, Director of Business Services and Isabelle Lefranc, head of procurement. Other people came to join the real chain of solidarity as Jacques Harlé, bodybuilder at Marquise, who currently recovering in the shape of a van just 24 seats and provide a tire iron. Along with sewing in place, Patrick Kuma plans to take to increase employment by diversifying into creating such a machine shop, taxi service and ambulance service. A motocross bike, labeled "Paris-Dakar" has thus been purchased by the association and will be processed in an ambulance .... bush by adding a trailer adapted to traffic on runways as it is obvious that out there, few paved roads. "Frequently, patients have to travel on their own and walk to the nearest hospital and it can take four days for treatment," notes Patrick Kuma. Thomas Dewas, the Clinic Tire Marquise deals to put the gear in a condition to ensure this valuable service.
Other needs And that's not all! Other hand, that given by Celine Levis, head of DTH Company Rinxentoise Services (logistics and road transport) that puts some of its warehouses available to Patrick Kuma to store his equipment. This also does not fail to acknowledge the support received from Bernard Miquel MEDITEX company, based in Quelmes through donations of clothing, fabric rolls, spools of thread. Kuma Patrick took the opportunity to appeal to potential donors. It lacks a 500-liter compressor and a generator used with each time, the prospect of creating new jobs. Gradually, the container is filled. In a few weeks, it reaches its destination, and emptied its contents, will be a new utility, converted in both housing and sewing. That tells you if, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the needs are great. "This is not an assistant but to allow as many people to live the fruits of their work," says Patrick Kuma before this Chinese proverb reminds us that it is so expensive, "Give a fish to a poor, he'll eat for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats every day. " Hervé Deguine Nord Littoral |
